Boom Clash Rockstar
Boom Clash Rockstar came to Soho Media group as a new client. With an existing logo, they were after social media Creative direction. Using the three colours as a base, they asked each designer at soho media group to create a 6 post grid that would be used as a brand guide. This is what I came up with.
For a bit of a background, “BCR is the band battle to end all band battles. they help young artists find their voices, give them real-world advice and experience, and shine a spotlight on youth mental health. Industry insiders will provide mentoring on their music, marketing, digital developments, staging, promotion and production and bands will gain valuable feedback from judges and audience voting. The competition will provide real-life experiences for music, creative arts, digital and mixed media, and business studies students. Bands will grow their profile, build music industry connections and come to understand the realities and challenges they’ll face pursuing their rockstar dreams. And they’ll be supported by the teams at headspace and TwentyTen every step of the way.”

Social Media Creative direction (proposal)
My creative idea was based around using the three brand colours (charcoal, orange and beige) and introducing green, purple and yellow into the colour palette. I drew inspiration from the 80’s music scene with the colour palette and layout. As BCR is a battle of the bands competition for school aged students, it was important to create content that would appeal to teenagers.
This concept was not chosen in the end.
After a creative direction was selected, BCR were interested in a tshirt design that would be available to purchase at each location.
I was asked to utilise my illustration skills to create a one of a kind design that represented the competition, and also drew inspiration from the Sydney music scene in the 80’s. BCR’s ‘look’ is very 70s vibes. So, we went down a rabbit hole of researching the 1970/80s rock scene. Due to the competition being based in NSW, we thought that it would be good for the shirt design to link to Sydney’s rock past.
